Better block revitalized one of my favorite parts of norfolk,
showing what it COULD and hopefully does look like as we embrace our arts community.
Art popped up everywhere from the walls of abandoned buildings to natural sculpures in parking lots.
Local musicians enhanced the experiences suppling the perfect atmospheric back drop.
We wandered through the many POP up shops with elation at how brilliant our community truly is.
So much of the art community has been hidden and isolated for far too long!
It was a joy to see how art compliments the lives of the young and old alike!

I awoke before everyone else, yearning to explore the soft spring weather.
I could hear the young bids rustling out of sleep just beyond the door.
I wandered the streets of Richmond for the better part of an hour before jostling friends to reality and walking to Lamplighter.
Which happens to be a snazzy coffee house filled with bike culture and very citrus/acidic americanoes!
We sat in the sun which was full fledged now, soaking in it’s vibrant heat.
I love to people watch when I travel, especially at spots that create an atmosphere for community.
We met up with some more cozy friends: ate at 821 bakery cafe and then explored some of the great out doors!
With quilt in hand and sunshine in the sky we were set for a lazy sunday in the park.
As the day drew on we consumed copious amounts of kombucha, vegan cookies and probably made everyone feel very jealous they were not our friends.
The End…

The sweet simpleness of being home with the family this weekend was refreshing.
Reading, making easter dinner, lounging in the heat of our home,
watching christmas movies and playing settlers.
This holiday rolled in softly.
The clouds puffed full of tears.
The kiddos swarm around with endless energy.
Laughing and playing games in their innocent dreamer worlds.
It was a cozy day with the family. A day that I needed.
A day full of coffee, sweet treats and cuddles.
-Yesterday my sister had loads of photo shoots and I joined for a chick holding.
Yes a lil tiny chick nestled in the palm oh my hands!
I’m so very proud of her blossoming in her talents!
I will show pictures so very soon.
But first tomorrow I have a lovely day trip that deserves my full love and attention!

Iv always loved the idea of HOME,
And being the sort of gypsy nomad spirit I am this hasn’t always mixed well with what I want in life.
I write, photograph and draw HOME all the time and yet I am never really satisfied with the idea of settling down and making HOME.
Of course I want to be a wife, mother and have a cute trendy house full of love and food.
But HOME, to me means something far broader and deeper.
I have had numerous dreams about HOME, of me coming to it and looking into the mirror at the woman I have become.
(I am not HOME yet, I know this)
But she is the woman everyday I come a bit closer too and choose to be.
I see her radiate with an identity that is far more steady and God rooted than my own has ever been.
But I come back to this theme over and over.
It’s like the more I draw a house or make a house out of tiny pieces of paper in my collages the more I realize this is my life journey.
TO COME HOME.
I want to endlessly travel the world…
So from year to year my tangible home will look different.
But my SPIRIT/SOUl HOME will be redecorated and refreshed in the way only experience and process can do.
I will find my way through the uncharted territory of the human psyche
and of the unknown countries I dream about by night.
I want to be a great explorer of both these landscapes.
Discovering what it means to be HOME in my own skin. In my own mind.
